Insomnia Prevention

Many people complain of insomnia or disturbed sleep. Prevention of insomnia includes following a healthy lifestyle, proper rest, recreation, exercise and also stress management. A healthy diet also helps reduce the risk of insomnia. You should avoid taking a large meal before going to bed. It is better if you could follow a routine to have a large meal during the day and a small meal in the evening. Milk contains calcium which calms the nerves. Hence it is recommended that you take a glass of warm milk 15 minutes before going to bed which will helps you to relax and soothe the nervous system. Taking a bath with warm water an hour before bedtime, which may alters the body’s core temperature rhythm, may help you to fall asleep easily as well as maintain sleep. Many leisurely activities such as reading, meditation, taking a stroll may help relax and promote sleep. You should put aside all your worries and go to bed as it will help you to have a sound sleep.
