Insomnia
Most of the people experience insomnia or sleeplessness at one time or another in their lives. Almost 40% of the people face the problem of insomnia and 10% have chronic insomnia. Insomnia affects all age groups of people and affects more women than men. The chances of getting insomnia tend to increase with age. It is found common in lower income groups, chronic alcoholics and mental health patients. Stress may trigger insomnia in many people and it may develop into chronic insomnia, if not addressed. There seems to be a connection between depression, anxiety, and insomnia. It is reported that people with depression or anxiety are more susceptible to insomnia. Many people with insomnia may have trouble falling asleep whereas there are others who may fall asleep easily but get up soon. Still there are others who face the problem of both falling asleep and staying asleep. Insomnia can cause daytime sleepiness and you may feel lack of energy. You may become anxious, depressed, or irritable. It also can prevent you from working at your optimum level whether at work or in school.
